KeraCare produces quality products for African American hair, especially if you have an itchy scalp from braids or hair weaves. However, their shampoos and conditioners tend to sometimes leave black hair dry and brittle, unless it is there detangling shampoo. As a result, although their products will help your scalp, they will leave your hair looking like you did it yourself. If you have a relaxer or chemically treated hair, and are use to using products like Elasta QP, Motions, or TCB, then it is long over due to make the switch to all natural hair care products.

Just because you buy natural hair care products does not mean you have to cut your hair and grow a mini afro or get dreads. You don’t need natural hair! There are several benefits of using all-natural hair care products, especially if you have relaxed hair. One of the best all-natural products on the market is Beauty 4 Ashes GodHead™ Silky Smooth System for Ethnic Hair. The shampoo and conditioner in the system are loaded with vitamins and natural oils that will not leave your hair dry like KeraCare, but instead will hydrate your follicles and nourish your roots. You can even use products like GodHead™ Max Moisture and Gro System to lengthen your hair and extend times between getting relaxers. You can find their products at wwwdiscoverb4acom

Here are the top five Hair Care Tips for Black Hair according to Hollywood’s Celebrity Stylist Michelle Vincent.

Hollywood Stylist Tip# 1 for Black Hair: Stop using low grade hair care products that contain sulfates: Even if you get a perm or wear weaves, your hair needs the most nutrients that it can receive between salon visits.

Hollywood Stylist Tip# 2 for Black Hair: Buy all natural hair care products, most natural stores carry Jason’s or Aubrey Organics ® Shampoos or you can by Beauty 4 Ashes ® online.

Hollywood Stylist Tip# 3 for Black Hair: Take care of your hair from home. You can do it! Wrap or roll your hair before bed. Don’t just sleep on it without a protective covering, which can lead to split ends and result in YOU getting your hair CUT.

Hollywood Stylist Tip# 4 for Black Hair: Drink plenty of water and reduce your intake of junk foods. Take a B Complex on a daily basis.

Hollywood Stylist Tip# 5 for Black Hair: Buy Silk pillow cases and hair wraps. Avoid cotton, it can lead to hair breakage.

African American Summer Hair Care Tips

Posted by: Zlatan | Comments (0)

It’s finally summer time and you are probably ready to have some fun in the sun! If you are anything like me, you are likely trying to soak up every bit of summer because before you know it, winter will be here again. I love biking, taking long walks, swimming, or spending all day at amusement parks during the summer months. All of these activities are great for my mind, body and soul, but wreck havoc on delicate tresses if they are not properly cared for.

It’s just as important to take extra precaution in the summer’s sun as it is in the harsh winter’s frigid weather. Many people don’t realize that the sun dries out the hair and may leave it brittle if it’s not properly and regularly moisturized; remember, just because there’s humidity in the air, doesn’t mean there’s automatically moisture in your hair. Here are some tips to keep your hair healthy and flourishing during these wonderful summer months.

1. Keep your hair protected by wearing buns, extensions, or twists to avoid total exposure to sun
2. If you are planning to stay in the sun for long periods of time, use a protective sunscreen on your hair before stepping out. Be sure to wash the hair afterwards.
3. Stay away from heating appliances such as flat-iron, hot combs, or curling irons. If you MUST use them, be sure to use a heat protectant.
4. Do not wash your hair with hot water; this will dry out the hair. Use cool water instead.
5. Avoid using products containing alcohol, mineral oil, paraffin gel and other ingredients that lead to dry brittle hair. Natural products do not contain these harsh ingredients.
6. Moisturize your hair daily. Use a light misting spray or natural moisturizer regularly.
7. Always use a moisturizing shampoo that does not contain lauryl/laureth sulfate
8. Deep condition your hair after each shampoo.
9. Drink plenty of water to help keep yourself and your hair hydrated.
10. If your hair is natural, moisturize your hair at night and sleep with a plastic cap under your scarf in order to allow the moisture to penetrate your hair.
11. Before plunging into a pool, be sure to coat the hair with either a moisturizer or conditioner if possible. Wear a swim cap, and wash the hair as soon as possible after exiting the pool.

If you follow these simple rules you will be able to enjoy the sun and enjoy your hair!

my hair is short at around chin length and my ends are rather very brittle. I naturally have thin relaxed hair. Ive tried Garnier, VO5, Motions, Optimum, Organic Root Stimulator, Soft and Beautiful but the products such as Garnier, V05 and Motions left my hair inadequately moisturized and dry while other products were too oily. What should i do?

Styling hair using the shingling method after a condition wash

I am a 30 year old women that has gone totally natural. However, finding products to use on my hair has been an ordeal. Everything I use drys my hair out and or makes my hair dry, itchy and flaky. Since my hair is very, very course, it makes my hair very hard to manage. If anyone has any natural methods that would help. I would be very appreciative.

I have natural ‘nappy’ hair, no color, no relaxer. I want to know the best hair care products to promote growing, healthy natural hair.
My daughter is 3 years old, she also has natural hair. Unlike me she has very dry hair, dry scalp, and split ends. I would like to know what i should use on her hair and is safe for children.
please address both issues.
